Hear some fantastic music on the streets of Monaghan at various locations in the town centre.

Enjoy the best of busking from these various Grúpa Cheoil.

Open to all Under-18 performers.

Time: 3:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Terms and conditions

  • All buskers/groups must sign an application form acknowledging that they have read and understood the rules and regulations as outlined below.

  • Eligibility: The competition is open to groups of up to eight members. The competition is open to persons under 18, but people under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.

  • Registration: Performers must register in advance to participate in the competition. Registration forms must be completed by Wednesday, 30th April, 2025 and forwarded to info@feileoriel.com.

  • Performance Locations: Performances will take place at designated busking spots within the competition area in Monaghan Town. Each group will be assigned a specific location until their performance is recorded by a member of the judging team.

  • Performance Duration: Performers can busk for any duration within the competition hours, but will be minimum 20minutes - ½ hour in duration at their designated busking location.

  • Performance Content: Performers are encouraged to showcase their talent in music, song and dances. Bain usáid as do chuid Gaeilge/na cúpla focail! All performances must be family-friendly and appropriate for audiences of all ages.

  • Equipment and Props: Performers are responsible for providing their own equipment, instruments, and props. No amplification is permitted.

  • Judging Criteria: Performances will be judged based on several criteria, including talent, originality of choice, variety, audience engagement, the ‘cúpla focail’ and overall entertainment value. Judges' decisions are final. Prizes will be presented on the day following at the Fiddlers of Oriel Competition. The overall winner will be invited to a presentation.

  • Audience Interaction: Performers are encouraged to interact with the audience during their performance. However, performers should not disrupt pedestrian traffic or impede the flow of foot traffic in the competition area.

  • Code of Conduct: Performers must conduct themselves in a respectful and professional manner at all times during the competition. Any inappropriate behaviour or language will result in immediate disqualification.

  • Safety Guidelines: Performers must adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations outlined by the competition organisers. This includes maintaining a safe distance from any electrical outlets or other potential hazards.

  • Photography and Recording: Photography and recording of performances are allowed for personal use. All buskers/groups agree to have their name/performances used in advertising/broadcast material relating to the competition including the Feile Oriel website and social media without any compensation or rights to royalties for such use.

  • Disqualification: The competition organisers reserve the right to disqualify any performer who violates the rules or engages in unsportsmanlike conduct.

  • Busking tip jars are permitted.

  • Give your group a name for the purpose of the competition. Good luck!
